Researchers have shown a substantial gap between the evidence base for psychiatric treatments and the use of such treatments. Dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments are influenced by clinicians’ beliefs, the health system or practice setting, the motivations and capacities of treatment suppliers, and publicity methods (e.g., advertising). In a simple study, researchers used Veterans Administration (VA) data to examine geographic variations in prazosin use in 2004 and 2006.
