Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is associated with significant risks for suicide, other self-harm behaviors, and emotional dysregulation, and it is difficult to treat clinically. Thus, evidence-based studies on BPD treatments are always welcome. In this randomized, 18-month British study, 134 BPD outpatients (mean age, 31; 80% female) received mentalization-based treatment (MBT) or, as a control, structured clinical management (SCM).
