More data on dopamine agonist–associated impulse control disorders in patients with Parkinson disease
Awareness has been growing about impulse control disorders (ICDs; e.g., pathologic gambling) associated with dopamine agonist medications, especially ropinirole or pramipexole, in patients with Parkinson disorder (PD) (JW Psychiatry Oct 19 2005). Most of these observations consist of case reports or small samples. This manufacturer-supported study reports on ICD frequency in 3090 patients with PD who were randomly selected during their scheduled clinic visits at movement disorder centers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
