Observations that psychotic disorders (such as psychotic depression, psychotic bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia) run in families have raised questions about the differentiation between affective and nonaffective psychoses. These researchers analyzed follow-up data from a prospective 40-year study of offspring of more than 13,000 pregnancies in two states.
