The d-amphetamine challenge increases dopamine release in the striatum of patients with schizophrenia and schizotypal personality disorder. These investigators studied whether d-amphetamine challenge has similar effects in individuals with no disorder per se but with normal levels of schizotypal personality traits and, if so, whether amphetamine-induced increases in dopamine release also occur in extrastriatal areas.
