Comorbid anxiety in bipolar disorder (BD) and unipolar major depressive disorder (MDD) is associated with worse symptoms, poorer response to treatment, and higher rates of suicidality. These investigators examined whether comorbid anxiety disorders or symptoms increase impulsivity in 205 patients with BD (mean age, 37 years; 29% male) and 105 with MDD (mean age, 38; 30% male).
Participants completed structured interviews for psychiatric diagnoses and screening questionnaires assessing anxiety symptoms and impulsivity.
