Increasing attendance for psychotherapy. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis of 31 studies on reducing treatment refusal or premature termination for psychotherapy in 4422 patients enrolled in a variety of clinic settings.1 Small-to-moderate effect sizes were found for several interventions. Most important were strategies offering patients their choice of appointment time and therapist.
