Many clinicians use nonpharmacologic approaches to treat gastroesophageal reflux (GER) in children, but is this approach effective? Investigators assessed the effectiveness of a nonpharmacologic approach in 37 infants (median age, 13 weeks) during a 2-week run-in phase of a randomized placebo-controlled trial of an oral histamine-2 (H2)-receptor antagonist. The children had symptom scores consistent with GER disease (GERD) as determined by answers on a reliable and valid infant reflux screening questionnaire.
