The prognostic implications of exercise-induced (during exercise or recovery) ventricular arrhythmias (EIVA) are uncertain, particularly in people without known coronary artery disease. Investigators reviewed the records of 2925 adults who underwent exercise stress testing at one institution in Boston during 5 years. Of these, 585 had EIVA (defined as a minimum of ventricular couplets or triplets or multifocal ventricular ectopy); patients without EIVA (controls) were matched to the case patients by age, sex, and cardiac risk factors.
