Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) often have dyslipidemia that is characterized by elevated triglyceride and low HDL cholesterol levels, which spurs interest in using fibrates in this population. However, rises in serum creatinine and lowering of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) have been reported with these drugs.
