The clinical course of follicular non-Hodgkin lymphoma (FL) is typified by repeated therapeutic responses and subsequent relapses. Given that both humoral and cellular immune responses can be generated to the immunoglobulin idiotypes that are unique to individual FL clonal cells, investigators conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter phase III trial of autologous idiotype (Id) vaccine involving FL patients in first remission.
