Follicular lymphoma (FL) is clinically heterogeneous, ranging from slow-paced disease to early progression, with variable treatment responses. The FL International Prognostic Index (FLIPI) was developed from retrospective data to identify parameters that correlated with overall survival (Blood 2004; 104:1258). Now, an international group of investigators has prospectively collected clinical, laboratory, and imaging data on newly diagnosed FL patients and derived an updated risk index (FLIPI 2) based on progression-free survival (PFS).
