Improvements in adjuvant systemic therapy during the last 20 years have resulted in fewer recurrences and longer survival for patients with stage I–III breast cancer. However, functional limitations following treatment for breast cancer can adversely affect survival.
To investigate the ways that physical limitations can affect quality of life and longevity in breast cancer survivors, researchers studied a cohort of 2202 women (age range, 21–79; median follow-up after breast cancer diagnosis, 9 years) participating in the Life After Cancer Epidemiology (LACE) study.
