Many questions remain about the value of lymphadenectomy in women with early-stage endometrial cancer. Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has been suggested as a reasonable alternative, but, until now, data from large, prospective studies have been lacking.
In the SENTI-ENDO study, all patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage I or II endometrial cancer at nine hospitals in France underwent pelvic SLN biopsy (via cervical dual injection), followed by lymphadenectomy. All participating hospitals had extensive experience with SLN biopsy for uterine cancer (≥30 prior cases).
