A correction to a summary published August 28, 2012
As a result of an editing error, the article “Therapeutic vs. Prophylactic Platelet Transfusions” incorrectly stated that platelet transfusions only for bleeding might be more appropriate for thrombocytopenic patients with acute myeloid leukemia. The corrected version, which states that platelet transfusions for prophylaxis and bleeding are indicated for these patients, now appears on our website. We apologize for the error.
