Therapy for T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) remains unsatisfactory, with few long-term remissions and short survival compared with B-cell NHL. To assess the activity of bendamustine, an alkylating agent with high activity in relapsed B-cell NHL and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, investigators in France conducted an industry-funded, multicenter, open-label, phase II trial involving 60 consecutive patients (median age, 66; 23% >75) with peripheral T-cell lymphoma not otherwise specified or angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. Patients had received one to three prior treatments. Histopathology was confirmed by central review, although treatment responses were not.
