Trampolines can be a source of serious injury. To identify factors associated with such injuries, these authors reviewed 50 cases of trampoline injuries that presented to a U.K. emergency department during a 6-week period.
Most injuries (about 80%) occur when more than one person is on the trampoline. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, the person on the trampoline who weighs the least is five times more likely to be injured than the other users. These authors add that the severity of the injury increases as the disparity between users’ weights increases.
