Several new adolescent vaccines have been recommended since 2005, but immunizing adolescents can be challenging. Investigators evaluated the effectiveness, cost, and revenue associated with a reminder/recall (R/R) system for boosting adolescent immunization rates for tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis, meningococcal conjugate, and the first dose of human papillomavirus (girls only). A total of 1600 adolescents (age range, 11–18 years) who had been seen within the past 2 years at four suburban or urban private practices in Denver, Colorado, and who required at least one of the three vaccines were randomized to usual care or the R/R intervention.
