The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) has published an updated statement on the use of estrogen and progestogen in peri- and postmenopausal women (http://www.menopause.org/PSHT07.pdf). Formulated by an advisory panel, these practical clinical recommendations are based on available high-quality evidence, while also noting areas requiring further research because inadequate evidence precluded opinion consensus. Standardized terminology as recommended by the panel is defined in Table 1.
