Accurate knowledge about both abstinence and contraception can delay adolescent sexual activity and promote future use of condoms and other contraception. But are adolescents receiving that information in school sex education classes? Based on a representative probability sample, these researchers mailed surveys (along with a small incentive payment) to 335 sex education teachers at Illinois public middle schools and high schools; the 209 respondents represented >90% of sampled schools throughout Illinois.
