We know relatively little about contraceptive use among women with epilepsy. Investigators conducted a study in patients who received their routine care at outpatient epilepsy clinics affiliated with a New York City teaching hospital. English- and Spanish-speaking participants answered questionnaires about reproductive history, sexual behavior, and contraception.
Among 148 respondents (mean age, 31.7), approximately one third were Spanish-speaking; overall, the median number of reported pregnancies and children was 1 and 0, respectively.
