The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) has issued a new position statement on hormone therapy in postmenopausal women. The 2008 statement reflects evidence that has accrued since the development of the 2007 NAMS position paper (Menopause 2007; 14:168).
Treatment of moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms remains the primary indication for HT; in the U.S. and Canada, all prescription products for estrogen therapy (ET) and estrogen-progestin therapy (EPT) have been approved for this use.
