Migraine and risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) are linked (JW Womens Health Sep 21 2006 and JW Womens Health Oct 25 2007), but the relation between migraine frequency and CVD events is unclear. Investigators analyzed Women's Health Study data for more than 27,000 women (age, ≥45) without CVD who provided information about migraine frequency at baseline. Migraine frequency was categorized as <monthly, monthly, or ≥weekly.
Of 3568 women who reported migraines during the prior year, 75% reported rare (<monthly) migraines, and only 5% reported weekly migraines.
