To obtain additional information about risk for conception during the menopausal transition, investigators collected daily urine specimens from 108 women (age range, 25–58) and measured levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estrone glucuronide (E1G), and pregnanediol glucuronide (PDG, a metabolite of progesterone) for 6-month intervals during each of 5 consecutive years. Participants recorded menstrual bleed data to determine cycle length.
