Menopausal symptoms often interfere with quality of life, including the capacity to perform consistently in the workplace. Researchers conducted a cross-sectional study to characterize the influence of menopausal symptoms on ability to work effectively. A total of 208 female employees (age range, 44–60) at a hospital and a home care organization in the Netherlands completed a questionnaire that included the Work Ability Index (WAI; a survey of self-reported work ability relative to past performance and job demands, current diseases, and recent illness-related absences) and the Greene Climacteric Scale (GCS; a 21-item survey of menopausal symptoms and their severity).
