Many women experience moderate pain during first-trimester surgical abortion. Researchers conducted a trial involving women who sought abortions at a Planned Parenthood facility in Portland, Oregon, to determine the efficacy of adding hydrocodone–acetaminophen to standard pain-control measures. A total of 119 women with ultrasound-confirmed pregnancies of <11 weeks' gestation (mean, 7.3 weeks), were included in the analysis.
