The risk for serious influenza-associated complications is greater in pregnant women than in the nonpregnant population. Despite guidelines favoring vaccination for all pregnant women, fear of maternal and fetal adverse events continues to impede this objective. Now, results of two large retrospective studies confirm the safety of influenza vaccination during pregnancy.
