The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) revised the guideline for primary care clinicians on diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children and adolescents. The guideline applies to children and adolescents with adenotonsillar hypertrophy, obesity, or both. The guideline is not intended for infants younger than 1 year, patients with central apnea, or patients with OSA associated with other medical conditions (e.g., Down syndrome and metabolic disorders) or craniofacial anomalies and neuromuscular disorders (e.g., cerebral palsy).
