It has been suggested that patients with end-stage renal disease ondialysis have an increased incidenceof pancreatitis, but there are conflicting reports as to whether peritoneal dialysis imparts a greater risk for pancreatitis than does hemodialysis. In this retrospective study from the Netherlands, researchers compared the risk for pancreatitis in patients on long-term hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis with that of the general population, and assessed the clinical course and outcome. Patients were followed for9.3 years.
