Angina without Obstructive CAD: What’s the Prognosis?

Angina with nonobstructive coronary arteries (ANOCA) is increasingly recognized as an important cause of chest pain, particularly in women (see Figure 1). But does ANOCA increase adverse event rates? Using a Danish registry, researchers identified 21,000 patients with stable angina and without obstructive coronary artery disease on angiography and then compared their incidence of myocardial infarction (MI), ischemic stroke, and mortality against matched controls.
