A panel of experts recently reviewed evidence-based literature to formulate a practice guideline for the management of uncomplicated acute otitis media (AOM) in children 2 months to 12 years old. Uncomplicated AOM was defined as AOM occurring in otherwise healthy children who do not have underlying conditions that might alter the natural course of the disease. The guideline addresses pain management, antibiotic therapy, and prevention.
