Angiosarcoma (AS) is a rare malignant tumor of endothelial cells arising in skin, soft tissue, bone, breast, liver, and other viscera. Cutaneous AS is the most frequent presentation. These researchers explored prognostic indicators in 47 patients with cutaneous AS (75% men; average age, 75.1 years).
Most tumors (95%) occurred on the head and neck. The most common clinical presentation was a rapidly expanding erythematous patch, and AS was the initial diagnosis in 38% of cases. The average tumor diameter was 5.3 cm (range, 1.1-8.9 cm).
