Investigators prospectively studied the diagnostic accuracy of a clinical pathway for pediatric appendicitis in children 3 to 17 years of age presenting to a pediatric emergency department with suspected appendicitis. Per the clinical pathway protocol, treating physicians assigned a pediatric appendicitis score (PAS; ), with scores of 1–3 representing low risk, 4–7 intermediate risk, and 8–10 high risk.
