Myocardial thinning on echocardiography or cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is often taken as a sign of transmural infarction and scarring in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). In this three-center study involving 1055 patients with CAD undergoing CMR viability assessment, investigators examined the correlation between myocardial thinning (end-diastolic thickness of ≤5.5 mm) and scarring as assessed by late gadolinium enhancement.
