Carlos del Rio, M.D., is Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, and Codirector of the Emory Center for AIDS Research. His research interests include the epidemiology of opportunistic infections in HIV, the epidemiology and transmission dynamics of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, early diagnosis of HIV, linkage to and retention in HIV care, and prevention of HIV infection. In addition, Dr. del Rio's interests include the optimization of HIV management in resource-constrained countries.
