Douglas K. Rex is Professor of Medicine and Director of Endoscopy in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He has received several Outstanding Teacher Awards and the Department of Medicine's Excellence in Teaching Award. His research interests focus on colorectal disease, colorectal cancer screening, and colonoscopy technique. He coauthored the 2000 colorectal cancer screening recommendations of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and is a past President of the ACG. He was the Chair of the U.S. Multisociety Task Force on Colorectal Cancer from 1999 through 2006. Dr. Rex was a member of the NEJM Journal Watch Gastroenterology Editorial Board from 2000 to 2018.
