Founding Editor, Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
F. Bruder Stapleton is Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington. He is a Senior Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. His research interests have included quality improvement, renal physiology, academic workforce, clinical pediatrics, and, in nephrology, uric acid disorders and urinary stone disease (his accomplishments include identifying hypercalciuria as a cause of childhood hematuria). He is a past President of the American Pediatric Society, the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs, and the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology.
Dr. Stapleton was the Founding Editor of NEJM Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and served as Editor-in-Chief since its inception in 2002 until the publication’s closure in 2020. He was a Consulting Editor for NEJM Journal Watch General Medicine from 2020 to 2022.
