Claudio N. Soares is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences and Director of the Women's Health Concerns Clinic at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His clinical and research interests include the management of mood and anxiety disturbances across the female reproductive life cycle. He has written extensively, with more than 80 publications (peer-reviewed manuscripts, review articles, and book chapters). His published work includes the evaluation of new treatments for premenstrual dysphoric disorder, risk factors for depression and anxiety during transition into menopause, and the role of hormonal and nonhormonal interventions for the treatment of menopause-related symptoms. Other areas of interest include reproductive-related trauma and post-traumatic stress disorders in women and psychiatric morbidity among female immigrants. Dr. Soares wrote for NEJM Journal Watch Women's Health from 2006 to 2009.
