Dr. Socinski serves as the Director of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program at the University of North Carolina and Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC). His primary research involves clinical trials in both non-small cell (NSCLC) as well as small cell lung cancer (SCLC). He is the Principal Investigator for several national and investigator-initiated LCCC trials on the optimal chemotherapeutic approach to advanced, metastatic NSCLC. Dr. Socinski serves as chair of a national trial of novel chemotherapeutic approaches in stage I and II NSCLC as pre-operative therapy. He is currently involved with the American College of Chest Physicians Lung Cancer Guidelines Committee and serves on the Advisory Board of Lungcancer.org. He wrote for NEJM Journal Watch Oncology and Hematology from its inception in 2006 through 2007.
