Robert C. Knowlton is Professor of Clinical Neurology in the Departments of Neurology, Radiology, and Neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and Medical Director of the UCSF Seizure Disorders Surgical Program. Dr. Knowlton received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans; completed his neurology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles; and completed a fellowship in epilepsy and neurophysiology at UCSF. He received a Master of Science in Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health. He is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology, with additional certification in brain magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography interpretation by the American Society of Neuroimaging. Dr. Knowlton conducts research focusing on epilepsy imaging and clinical decision making in the surgical treatment of seizure disorders. Dr. Knowlton was a member of the board of NEJM Journal Watch Neurology from 2010 through 2021.
