Seemant Chaturvedi, M.D., is the Stewart J. Greenebaum Endowed Professor of Stroke Neurology and Stroke Program Director at the University of Maryland Medical System, Baltimore. He is also Vice Chair for Strategic Operations in the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland. Dr. Chaturvedi completed his neurology residency at UMass Chan Medical School, Worcester, and a stroke fellowship at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Dr. Chaturvedi has coedited two books, Transient Ischemic Attacks (2004) and Carotid Artery Stenosis (2005). He has been involved with several guideline writing committees for the American Academy of Neurology and American Stroke Association and is on the steering committee of several clinical trials. Dr. Chaturvedi’s research interests include carotid and intracranial atherosclerosis, gender differences in stroke, and stroke in young adults.
