Leana Doherty, M.D., is Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences, Division of Comprehensive Neurology, at Stanford University School of Medicine, Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Doherty completed her internship in internal medicine in her home state at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, NY. She completed her neurology residency at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, where she was the Executive Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at Johns Hopkins. She was the Physician Advisor at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Doherty received the Neurology Outstanding Teacher Award for Inpatient Service in 2021 and the Best Clinical Teacher Award at UPMC in 2024 for the neurology residency. She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute Resident Scholars program in Patient Safety and Quality. She currently works as a neurohospitalist with outpatient neuromuscular and general neurology clinics at Stanford Tri-Valley. Dr. Doherty’s research interests include quality improvement and patient safety.
