Dr. Callahan is Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine with appointments in the Departments of Medicine and Immunology at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington. She received a dual degree (M.D./Ph.D.) from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed internal medicine residency training at the University of California, San Francisco and a medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY. She is a practicing medical oncologist with a clinical focus on melanoma and has been the principal investigator for numerous clinical trials developing immunotherapy agents in oncology. Dr. Callahan also leads a federally funded translational research program focused on biomarker development in immuno-oncology.
