Despite evidence to the contrary, the possibility that electric blanket use causes breast cancer lingers in the minds of some women. Now, yet another group of researchers has found no association between the two.
In the Electromagnetic Fields and Breast Cancer on Long Island Study, mandated by Congress in 1993, 576 women (age, <75) who were diagnosed with first primary in situ or invasive breast cancers during a 1-year period were compared with 585 age-matched controls. All subjects had lived in Nassau or Suffolk County for at least 15 years.
