Jessner's solution followed by 35% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) has become the standard medium-depth chemical peel for pigmentary changes, actinic damage, and mild rhytides. The use of glycolic acid in superficial chemical peels is well established, but its usefulness in medium-depth chemical peels is unclear. This study compared Jessner's solution and glycolic acid for medium-depth chemical peels in 13 patients with actinic damage. Investigators applied Jessner's solution to the left side of each patient's face and 70% glycolic acid (for two minutes) to the right, and then 35% TCA to both sides.
