The CDC has revised its case counts for severe lung illness tied to vaping. As of September 11, the agency knew of 380 confirmed or probable cases in 36 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This new count excludes possible cases (those still under investigation) and is therefore lower than previous numbers. The CDC will no longer report possible cases.
The number of confirmed vaping-related deaths has not changed — there have been six deaths across six states.
