Cetuximab is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-targeted monoclonal antibody that has single-agent activity and enhances chemotherapy response and effectiveness in advanced colorectal cancer. Given the success of cetuximab and other EGFR-targeted therapies in that setting, there is interest in testing these agents in other gastrointestinal cancers, including esophagogastric cancer.
