Telemonitoring-based blood pressure (BP) management involves home readings that are transmitted automatically to healthcare providers. In a randomized trial, U.K. investigators determined whether telemonitoring-based BP management (weekly readings taken by electronic BP monitors linked to mobile phones, which transmitted data automatically to a secure website) lowered BP compared with usual care in 400 hypertensive patients.
Clinicians were advised to review BP reports weekly.
