Multiple case-control and cohort studies support the effect of a significant impact of colonoscopy on incidence and mortality reduction from colorectal cancer, including in the proximal colon. The current study is a single-center, retrospective evaluation of stages and outcomes of patients with colon cancer detected by screening colonoscopy versus otherwise. Participants were 1071 patients who underwent surgical treatment for colon cancer from 2004 through 2011. Twenty percent were diagnosed through screening colonoscopy.
