Fertility preservation is a vital concern to young people with cancer who require surgery, radiation therapy, or systemic therapy. To provide guidance for oncology providers, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently updated the Fertility Preservation Guideline for Patients with Cancer. The panel conducted a systematic review of the literature published between 2006 and 2013 and identified 222 new publications, including mostly observational studies, cohort studies, and case series, though few randomized clinical trials.
